Professional Experience

I am a dedicated and innovative Information Professional currently finishing up the last semester of my Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) at the University of Western Ontario. I decided to go back to get my Master’s degree in order to further my knowledge about information practices and expand upon my future career opportunities. This past year has been a rich and exciting experience for me as I have met hundreds of amazing and passionate people in my field, learned from world-class researchers and lecturers, attended my first professional conference (OLA 2014), which all helped mould my professional image and let me create my own personal brand. During this time I have had the opportunity to participate in paid work-terms at BlackBerry and the FIMS Graduate Resource Centre, participate in a job shadowing placement at the University of Guelph Special Collections Library, volunteered with the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Archives and several student groups on campus, and stepped out of my comfort zone to teach two bookbinding workshops and speak at a student conference. While pursuing my MLIS, I was also taking bookbinding courses with the Canadian Bookbinders and Books Arts Guild (CBBAG) here in London and had an amazing experience taking a Gothic Bookbinding course in Montefiascone, Italy last summer. As my MLIS is coming to an end, I am on the lookout for new career and professional development opportunities.

Prior to my MLIS, I completed a Certificate in Archives and Records Management at Algonquin College and a BA Honours in History and Classical Studies from the University of Ottawa. During these programs I completed an Archives Internship at the City of Ottawa Archives and an archaeological field research placement with the Apollonia Pontica Excavation Project in Sozopol, Bulgaria which was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. During this time I also worked as a Health Records Clerk at the Ottawa Hospital which was my first job in the information field and I volunteered at the Museum of Classical Antiquities at the University of Ottawa.
