Not quite the same thing, but have you read The Medici Conspiracy? It blew my mind that this stuff was making its way into museums. I guess, coming from an archaeology background, I’m used to taking for granted that we know the provenance of everything. If you’re interested, I can bring the book back to London.
Thanks Lady Lazarus, I’m definitely interested!! I often look on things from an archival perspective so provenance is very important to me too!! Also I look at rare books as being different than “traditional” librarianship in that yes, they are books but they are also as unique and rare as historical/archaeological/archival artifacts. I like to look at the book as an archaeological artifact! 😀
